However, if the vehicle is well maintained, driven smoothly and situations that increase wind resistance when driving are avoided, a reduction in fuel consumption of between 10 and 25% can be achieved.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can I do?<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3897\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ossma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/320px-electric_car_charging_amsterdam.jpg\" alt=\"Electric car at a charging point\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ossma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/320px-electric_car_charging_amsterdam.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/ossma\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/320px-electric_car_charging_amsterdam-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/>Start the engine without accelerating.<\/li><li>Drive at a steady and proper speed, avoiding sudden braking and acceleration and unnecessary gear changes.<\/li><li>When speeding should be reduced and possible, use the engine brake instead of using the brake pedal.<\/li><li>Drive longer gears so that the engine runs less revs and consumes less.<\/li><li>Avoid driving with the windows open because of fuel consumption<br\/>it will be higher due to greater resistance to movement.<\/li><li>Use the car&#8217;s air conditioning system responsibly.
