Pregunteu-li, si no, al vector de Poynting.<\/p>\n<p>Quan un cient\u00edfic es pregunta quina \u00e9s la intensitat d\u2019una ona electromagn\u00e8tica, a qui us penseu que ho pregunta? Doncs al vector de Poynting! Sobre ell recau la responsabilitat de proporcionar aquesta informaci\u00f3 als aparells de mesura per als cient\u00edfics.<\/p>\n<p>No era m\u00e9s tranquil\u00b7la la vida quan solament s\u2019havia de preocupar de mirar cap a on anaven el camp el\u00e8ctric i magn\u00e8tic per saber cap on orientar-se? Sense necessitat de fer cap c\u00e0lcul matem\u00e0tic ell tenia les coses clares, formava part de la seva naturalesa. La vida era for\u00e7a tranquil\u00b7la, la veritat, l\u2019\u00fanic problema apareixia quan entrava en un d\u2019aquells materials estranys que l\u2019obligaven a orientar-se en una direcci\u00f3 diferent de la direcci\u00f3 en qu\u00e8 es propagaven els seus camps companys.<\/p>\n<p>Els cient\u00edfics, per\u00f2, sempre han de ficar els nassos arreu i etiquetar les seves troballes i, aix\u00ed, l\u2019any 1884 John H. Poynting va posar nom i forma matem\u00e0tica al nostre amic. A partir d\u2019ara, els camps quedarien lligats amb un operador matem\u00e0tic i ell s\u2019hauria de cuidar de dur-lo sempre a coll. La vida no va tornar a ser igual. A partir de llavors, milers de cient\u00edfics i enginyers es van dedicar a calcular-lo i a dissenyar aparells per mesurar-lo, aparells sense cap mena de dec\u00e8ncia ni escr\u00fapol dedicats a mirar els seus valors en un cert interval de temps i a fer-ne la mitjana!<\/p>\n<p>Quina responsabilitat tan gran li sorg\u00ed arran d\u2019aquest fet: haver de cuidar-se que tot qued\u00e9s de forma m\u00e9s o menys intel\u00b7ligible per a les ments humanes, limitades, mediocres i imperfectes, que intenten comprendre\u2019l a ell i als seus companys mitjan\u00e7ant un llenguatge de signes i s\u00edmbols que pret\u00e9n descriure aquest m\u00f3n boig, per\u00f2 alhora fascinant, en qu\u00e8 vivim.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ser un vector no \u00e9s f\u00e0cil.
