The tectonic and depositional history of East Antarctica is traced, as recorded in the Transantarctic Mountains, from the breakup of Rodinia to the amalgamation of Gondwanaland. This is contrasted with the northern Indian continental margin, where an uplift and erosion event also records the final assembly of Gondwanaland. I will discuss results from the Himalayan region, from Pakistan to Bhutan, and highlight biostratigraphy, facies analysis, structure, metamorphism, geochronology, and paleogeography.
