The Cenozoic evolution of the Pyrenean range was controlled both by internal and external processes, such as tectonics and processes of erosion and sedimentation. Studying this area leads us to identify and analyze different interactions between tectonics and surface processes from syn- to post-orogenic times, and notably coupling between the range and its adjacent foreland basin. To do so, a multi-disciplinary approach combining low-temperature thermochronology and several modeling techniques in 2 and 3 dimensions was adopted. In the center of the Pyrenean Axial Zone, the extensive thermochronological database ((U-Th)/He and fission-track data) was incorporated into a thermo-kinematic model (Pecube) that, when coupled to an inversion method, predicts values of exhumation for several time periods, as well as the amount of sediments deposited in the valleys needed to reproduce the set of thermochronological data. The effects of this important syntectonic sedimentation on the still active fold-and-thrust belt of the Southern Pyrenees are then studied through a dynamic 2D model that allows reconstructing the fold-and-thrust belt development with respect to sedimentation. The results highlight the potential controls of the syntectonic sedimentation on the different steps of construction of a thin-skinned wedge, and on the growth and kinematics of thrusting in such context.
