Resum: The particulate pollution is halting in several part of India mainly due to enormously increasing number of vehicles and huge burning of solid fuel i.e. coal and biomass. The variations, chemical composition (i.e. organic carbon, elemental carbon, trace elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), sources and environmental impacts of particulate pollution in the most industrialized region, central India is described.
