Theodora Vetta va estudiar Història i Arqueologia a la Aristotle University de Tessalònica. Té un màster i un doctorat en Antropologia Social per l’École des Hautes Études en Sciences Socials de París, on és membre del laboratori de recerca Institut de Recherche Interdisciplinaire sur les enjeux Sociaux (IRIS / CNRS). Ha sigut investigadora visitant del Swedish Institute’s Guest Program a la Lund University (2012-2013), visiting fellow a la Universitat de Belgrad (2009-2010) i ha gaudit d’una Inter-Laboratory Fellow a la Central European University de Budapest, en el marc del programa Marie Curie “SocAnth-Anthropology in Central and Eastern Europe” (2007-2008).

El seu treball previ descomprimeix la ‘revolució associativa” a la Sèrbia postcomunista i postconflicte a través de la lent analítica del concepte de classe. Les ONG locals s’entenen a través de la seva constitució dialèctica amb els sistemes globals de l’economia política i l’ajuda, les actuals tendències neoliberals de reestructuració de l’Estat i els processos de subjectivació que vénen juntament dels projectes de “construcció de la societat civil”. El seu projecte actual pretén establir marcs històrics explicatius impulsats culturalment en relació amb la “patogènia grega” amb la finalitat de representar les desigualtats estructurals, els patrons normatius i les jerarquies de poder lligats dins el projecte polític de la crisi. La seva recerca se centra en les estratègies domèstiques, el treball i la reestructuració dels processos de privatització al nord de Grècia.
Actualment, forma també part de l’equip editorial de la revista FOCAAL–Journal of Global and Historical Anthropology (Berghagh Editions).
