Molecular Biology of Reproduction and Development. PI: Rafael Oliva Virgili

The group of Molecular Biology of Reproduction and Development aims to characterize the molecular composition and biology of the human sperm and seminal plasma, from proteomic, transcriptomic and epigenmic perspectives as a step to further understand the function and basic mechanisms operating in the sperm cell, and to set up the basis to enable translational research in male infertility. A particular focus has been placed in differential distribution of the genes, RNAs and proteins potentially involved in regulatory roles after fertilization, and detection of signatures in infertile patients potentially involved in early embryo development.
