Objectives:
• Providing practical advice on how to build a write a science
journalism/communication text
• Examining examples of successful and unsuccessful coverage of
scientific information in the media
• Drafting an article on a previously chosen research subject
• Discussing the drafts and how they could be improved
Structure and activities:
• A non-naïve view of how science communication works (talk+Q&A)
• Science journalism, practical tips on building and writing articles (talk
+ Q&A)
• Analysis of an exemplary text (exercise)
• Writing an article (press release or blogpost) on a specific paper
(individually or in group of 3-4 students)
• Collective discussion on the articles (possibly, comparison with
articles published in the media on the same subject)
• Misinformation vs. Excellence in science journalism
