The Doctoral School organises the doctoral studies at the UB The Doctoral School of the University of Barcelona (EDUB), was created in 2013 to organise the doctoral studies of the UB. It was approved by ORDER ECO/119/2013, of June 7 (DOGC July 19, 2013), in order to organise, within the framework of the scientific university policy, the training and professional preparation of doctoral students. In this sense, it provides researchers, who are being trained, an interdisciplinary culture linked to a coherent scientific project, organised within the framework of doctoral programmes.
The EDUB manages the UB doctoral studies and activities in all areas of knowledge. In this way, a maximum of transversality is ensured and it is contributed to the coherence in the international development and visibility of the doctoral training offer.
As a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), the UB is one of the few European universities that has the dimensions, the critical mass and the scientific competences necessary to establish a real own research policy and to invest in the strategic value of the training of researchers, with the aim of promoting international research.
Mission and vision of the EDUB
The mission of the Doctoral School of the UB is the academic and administrative organisation of the doctoral programmes leading to obtaining the title of Doctor promoting excellence, visibility and internationalisation.
The vision is to promote and support academic excellence in the training of doctors which is oriented towards the generation and transfer of knowledge, and to become a unit that helps the consolidation of research at the UB as an internationally recognised university of excellence.
Objectives of the EDUB
The strategic objective of the Doctoral School of the University of Barcelona is to be an organisational model, both academic and administrative, of the doctoral programmes guaranteeing the quality of the academic offer as well as the efficiency of the management.
Its objectives are the planning, development and monitoring of the doctorate programmes and other training activities in the field of research, with special attention to transversality and multidisciplinarity.
