History

The Faculty of Geography and History at the University of Barcelona was created in 1974 as a result of the reorganization of the former Faculty of Philosophy and Arts located in the Historic Building. However, the studies it offers have a long tradition at the University of Barcelona, as they were part of the old degree in Philosophy and Arts virtually from the start.

For many years, the Faculty was located on the Avinguda Diagonal South Campus. In 2006, it was relocated to the Raval Campus, where it shares a building with the Faculty of Philosophy.

The Faculty’s courses were part of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts (1857), housed in the Historic Building in Plaça de la Universitat.
