Information for the student – Strategic Security and Police Management (currently being replaced)
Introduction
Security and policing constitute one of the primary social and political concerns of recent decades, and interest in this subject continues to grow. An increasing demand for professionalization and for knowledge in this area of study has given rise to a need for training and research in the strategic management of policies, organizations and resources in the fields of security and the police.
The University of Barcelona, in cooperation with the Institute of Public Security of Catalonia, offers this master's degree programme to prepare professionals to perform strategic management tasks in the areas of security and the police. Through identifying and analysing the social and legal transformations that have occurred in this field, students will acquire the knowledge to direct and manage security organizations. Students will become familiar with the instruments required for effective professional and scientific development in these areas from a theoretical and practical perspective. The course provides students with advanced, specialized, multidisciplinary training that will allow them to acquire up-to-date and reasoned understanding of the services, techniques and national and international issues associated with security in today's world.
