The degree in Classical Philology offers undergraduate students a tutoring service that helps them solve the doubts and problems that arise during their studies, while providing them with guidance for their professional insertion.

  1. Help students, at the beginning of their studies, to integrate into the university world.
  2. Stimulate their interest in Latin and Greek languages and literatures, and culture in general.
  3. Detect and solve the problems they may encounter during their training.
  4. Attend to students with specific needs.
  5. Keep students informed of the scholarships and grants available to them.
  6. Knowing directly, through tutoring, the needs of the students.
  7. To guide students, at the end of their degree studies, with a view to further studies and insertion in the world of work.

1st year: collective presentation sessions

Taking advantage of the information session organized by the Faculty of Philology and intended for Classical Philology students in July, the Tutoring team coordinator attends in order to guide students in specific aspects of the degree for enrolment, such as:

        Welcome the students.
Inform about the structure of the degree.
Explain what the Tutoring service consists of and how it works.

Later, once classes have started, there is an initial collective session with the following objectives:

Presentation of the tutor who will be in charge of the first-year students.
Explain how the tutor will organize the Tutoring service for the 1st year.
Inform them about the operation of the Sections of Latin and Greek Philology.
To publicize the means of information and communication that the Department makes available.
Encourage them to use the service and help them integrate into the University.

1st year – 4th year

Later, once the classes have started, the students are divided into three groups and the respective tutors are assigned to them.

  3. Inform them about the operation of the Sections of Latin and Greek Philology.
  4. To publicize the means of information and communication that the Department makes available.
  5. Encourage them to use the service and help them integrate into the University.

  • of the 2nd group (first-year students, but not newly admitted, and second-year students), put in charge of a tutor,
  • of the 3rd group (third and fourth year students), put in charge of a tutor,

An initial collective meeting is held for each group in order to inform them of the assigned tutor and how the tutorials work.

Afterwards, students not only attend the individual meetings called by the respective tutors, but can also go to the tutor whenever they need it in the face of any problem related to their studies. They can be contacted by email or phone.
