University Center for Sociolinguistics and Communication (CUSC)

The CUSC is a research center of the University of Barcelona created in 1998 (history) to bring together researchers from various departments who work in different lines of research in sociolinguistics and communication (research).

Apart from research activities, the CUSC offers advisory and consultancy services in its areas of specialization and (co)organises different training activities, among which the research training seminars and the UB-ALGMSE Master's stand out .

With the aim of making available to society the work done in the university world, the CUSC annually publishes the LSC Magazine – Llengua, Societat i Comunicació, a magazine in electronic format that deals with topics of social interest, such as the linguistic model of the Spanish Constitution, communication in the company or the language policy of the European Union.

The center was created with the support of the consolidated research groups Complexity, Communication and Sociolinguistics Group, Language Acquisition Research Group and Variation Study Group. In addition, he was one of the founding members of the CRUSCAT Network, with which he collaborates regularly.
