Paula Blanco Grau, a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Philology and Communication, has been awarded the prize for the Arts and Humanities branch in the monologue competition at the 4th Doctoral Research and Outreach Conference of the University of Barcelona. This recognition places her among the four finalists in a competition that highlights the ability to communicate doctoral research clearly, rigorously, and with a strong outreach focus in a brief format.

The conference, held on Friday 10 April at the Historic Building of the UB, provided an opportunity to showcase the research and communication skills of the more than two hundred doctoral candidates who took part. In this edition, 87 posters and 53 monologues inspired by the doctoral candidates’ research experience were presented.

Paula Blanco Grau is a member of the Section of Latin Philology and Indo-European Linguistics in the Department of Classical, Romance and Semitic Philology at the Faculty. She is enrolled in the PhD programme in Linguistic, Literary and Cultural Studies, within the research line Cultures and Languages of the Ancient World and Their Continuity, and is currently working on a doctoral thesis entitled «Les unitats fraseològiques llatines a les fonts literàries de caràcter col·loquial».

In her four-minute monologue, she presented her dissertation project through a clear, accessible and rigorous communication approach that captivated the jury.
