Information for companies and institutions

In order to promote contact between students and companies and with the aim of contributing to the acquisition of student knowledge in the workplace, the students of the Degree in Communication and Cultural Industries of the Faculty of Philology and Communication from the University of Barcelona, must take the subject of curricular practices.

Once the time comes to take the practical subject, the students have a solid training in the various areas of communication, cultural management and audiovisual production, since they are taking the last year of his training itinerary. This fact requires having passed all the compulsory subjects and, therefore, the students will have already assumed the skills and aptitudes necessary to carry out an internship in a company in the field of communication and cultural industries.

The External Internships consist of a 660-hour stay in a collaborating center (company or institution, public or private) with which the Faculty establishes an educational cooperation agreement. The tasks that the students must carry out must be in line with the skills they develop in the teaching of the Degree in Communication and Cultural Industries, and must also be supervised by a tutor that the company or institution will assign to the student.

The completion of the curricular external internships will entail the inclusion of the student in the general Social Security regime. On the other hand, the external internship agreement established between the entity and the Faculty of Philology and Communication may provide for remuneration for the student by the entity. In the event that these curricular internships are remunerated, compliance with the obligation to register and deregister from Social Security corresponds to the entity. If they are not remunerated, it will be the responsibility of the University of Barcelona.

In the period between the end of January and the beginning of April, the entities must communicate their offer of places for external curricular internships for the coming year.

To apply for internships at the Faculty of Philology and Communication, it is necessary to be registered in GIPE, the internship management platform of the University of Barcelona, and to send one or more offers, depending on the academic profile and the number of students in internships you want to host. If your organization is already registered, enter directly with your user code and password. If not, you will need to register your entity's details and, once the registration has been confirmed, you will need to return to the authentication page to access the GIPE and submit your offer.

The publication of the offer in the GIPE, which is a free service, will take effect once it has been validated by the Communication and Cultural Industries Degree internship coordination team. The tasks that the student will carry out at the entity will have to provide them with theoretical-practical knowledge and benefit their training.

For any query, you can contact the Communication and Cultural Industries Degree practice coordination team (fil-coord.prac.cic@ub.edu).

During the month of May, interested students can consult the list and characteristics of the places offered by the collaborating entities.

The selection of students corresponds to the Internship Coordination Team, which assigns the student a destination taking into account their academic profile, their record, their preferences and the availability of places.

Once the place has been awarded, an academic tutor is assigned who will monitor and tutor the student.

The Faculty will process an educational cooperation agreement with the entity that will host the student. This document will be extended annually if neither of the two parties (Faculty and collaborating entity) express their wish to cancel the agreement. In this way, the agreement is valid in case there are future internship students at the institution.

Curricular practices are carried out during the academic year. In general, the internship period is established from mid-September to the end of May and the student must complete the 660 hours of internship planned in this period of time. The agreement and the training project must be signed before the student joins the entity.

The student is required to have a tutor at the institution where he will do the internship, who must supervise and supervise his stay.

The Faculty of Philology and Communication will appoint an academic tutor per student. These tutors are professors from the Faculty who are part of the teaching team linked to the "External Practices" subject.

At the end of the student's stay, the institution's internship tutor will assess the degree of satisfaction with the internships completed using a document that he will receive from the internship coordination team.

This report will form part of the student's assessment in the subject "External Internships".
