La Marató de TV3 Foundation gave 9,5 million euros, from the 2015 edition of the program, to share among 34 research projects on diabetes and obesity, two of the most common metabolic diseases in Catalonia. The 57 awarded researchers received the aids in an event on November 3, in the Academy of Medical Sciences and Health of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.

The projects driven by La Marató 2015 are the best valued out of the 136 that were presented. Of all the 34 awarded projects there are 16 with the participation of researchers from the University of Barcelona or research institutes in which the UB participates.

Ictus and medullary and traumatic cerebral injuries in La Marató 2016
The 2016 edition for La Marató de TV3 will take place on December 18 and will be dedicated to ictus and medullary and traumatic cerebral injuries. In Catalonia, ictus is the first case for death in women and third in men.
