The University of Barcelona launches its IV Equality Plan (2025–2029)
The University of Barcelona has launched the IV Equality Plan (2025–2029), the new strategic framework guiding gender equality, diversity and non-discrimination policies across the entire institution over the next five years.
This new Plan builds on nearly twenty years of commitment to equality policies at the UB and incorporates the lessons learned from previous plans to move towards a fairer, more inclusive and co-responsible university.
A plan for the entire university community
The IV Equality Plan is addressed to the whole university community —students, academic and research staff (PDI), and technical, management and administrative staff (PTGAS)— and acts as an overarching framework for equality policies beyond the strictly employment-related sphere. It will be in force from 2025 to 2029 and will be implemented through an action plan with specific objectives, measurable indicators and annual monitoring mechanisms.
Four strategic areas
The new Plan is structured around four main strategic areas:
-
Promoting equality within the university community, fostering an institutional culture based on respect, shared responsibility and diversity.
-
Integrating a gender perspective into teaching, as a quality criterion and a transversal competence across all degree programmes.
-
Integrating a gender perspective into research and knowledge transfer, to ensure excellent, bias-free and socially responsible research.
-
A university free from sexism and gender-based violence, in coherence with the Protocol against sexist and LGBTIQ+phobic violence.
