The Observatory will work on issues related to social pension plans systems from the framework of neutrality and the promotion of the rights recognized by the Welfare State.

Every year a report is conducted by the University of Barcelona (UB)
The main defining magnitudes of Europe’s complementary social pension plans systems will be gathered from the result of this report.
The first report is already underway, and its objective is to describe the complementary social pension plans systems existing in Europe as of today.

Values

The Observatory will carry out its research activity in an interdisciplinary way.

Its members come from different fields and understand that social pension plans is a matter that requires non-dogmatic and necessarily pluralistic approaches.

A subject in which it is not possible to institute behavior guidelines that do not have the pertinent information and scientific support when analyzing the ethical, legal, economic and social consequences of social pension plans models, as well as their possible changes.

Observatory’s research will focus, primarily, although not exclusively, on the following lines

Impact and economic viability of the different instruments that can be used for complementary social pension plans (collective insurance, social pension plans, etc).

Study of the legal modifications that would favor the development of social pension plans.

Behavioral economics and remuneration models that include complementary social pension plans benefits.

Impact on labor relations and on the work environment of the complementary social pension plans, understood as an instrument for staff loyalty and talent recruitment.

Does the use of complementary social pension plans have effects on the health status of workers and retirees?.

In addition, the observatory aims to maintain the activity of analysis and observation throughout the year and to produce tools that contribute to shed light on this topic. To this end, a content platform is launched to generate studies and reports, minor events such as seminars and analysis of specialized publications.
