Montserrat Guillén, winner of the 2025 National Research Award in Law and Economic and Social Sciences

September 29, 2025.- Montserrat Guillén, Chair Professor of the Department of Econometrics at the University of Barcelona and director of RISKcenter, has received the 2025 Pascual Madoz National Research Award in the field of Law and Economic and Social Sciences.

The jury recognized her as «a trailblazer and international leading figure in Risk Economics and Actuarial Science, with a high-impact academic and scientific career, whose work is profoundly transforming risk analysis and insurance economics in the 21st century by integrating quantitative methods with technologies such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, and applying them to fields of special social interest such as life expectancy, driving, financial contagion, and, more recently, climate change.»
