Montserrat Guillén receives the 2025 National Research Award in Law and Economic and Social Sciences

May 4, 2026.- Montserrat Guillén, Chair Professor of the Department of Econometrics at the University of Barcelona and director of RISKcenter, has received the 2025 Pascual Madoz National Research Award in the field of Law and Economic and Social Sciences from the hands of King Felipe IV of Spain.

His Majesty King Felipe presided the ceremony for the 2025 National Research Awards, the highest recognition to scientific research in Spain, that highlight the talent of the recipients: researchers who, throughout their internationally relevant scientific careers, have been contributing with their work to the advance and progress of knowledge, and of our society.

In his closing speech, his Majesty remarked: «Your careers are science aimed to the common good, knowledge at the service of people. As a country, we must match that effort: accompany it, foster cooperation and ensure that research has the support it needs to advance”.
