As part of the Challenge program, students of the Master in Actuarial and Finance Science of the University of Barcelona are invited to participate in a business case study. The aim of the business case is to provide an opportunity for students to apply their skills on a real world problem.<\/p>\n<p>The business case of the 5th edition of the Challenge program is entitled \u2018Digital Life Insurance\u2019. A total of 17 students grouped in five teams participate in this edition. Experts from Life Insurance of Zurich Spain will guide and assist the teams over the course of four weeks. Teams will work on the case study during this time and present their results in the UBZurich Actuarial Day that will be held on Friday, March 16<sup>th<\/sup>, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Kick-off: The Challenge Project (Fourth Edition)<\/big><\/small><\/b><br \/>\nFeb. 07 2017: On Tuesday, February 7th, the Kick-off of the 4th edition of the Challenge Project (year 2017) took place in classroom 109 of the Faculty of Economics and Business (University of Barcelona). The experts from Human Resources and Underwriting GI of Zurich Spain are in charge of this new activity.<\/p>\n<p>18 students of the Master in Actuarial and Finance Science (UB) participate in this training action. The program develops along February and March, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Fifth Edition of UB Actuarial Science Master<\/big><\/small><\/b><br \/>\nThe University of Barcelona has launched the fifth edition of the of the Master in Actuarial Science in the academic year 2016\/2017 of the Master in Actuarial Science, which provides professional and training research for actuaries and risk managers. The master pursues to increase the program internationalization including English taught courses. In the second-year master, students take the specialization courses. Courses of the advanced track will be in English from academic year 2017\/2018 onwards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Kick-off: The Challenge Project (Third Edition)<\/big><\/small><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">On Tuesday, February 9th, the Kick-off of the 3rd edition of the Challenge Project (year 2016) took place in classroom 102 of the Faculty of Economics and Business (University of Barcelona). The experts from Human Resources and Life staff of Zurich Spain are in charge of this new activity. 14 students of the Master in Actuarial and Finance Science (UB) participate in this training action. The program develops along February and March, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Fourth Edition of UB Actuarial Science Master<\/big><\/small><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The University of Barcelona has launched the fourth course in the academic year 2015\/2016 of the Master in Actuarial Science, which provides professional and training research for actuaries and risk managers. The good results of the previous editions have increased the number of students enrolled in the fourth course, with students from Catalonia, and also from different parts of Spain and other countries. More than 30 professors are involved. The Master has already established collaboration agreements with companies in the insurance and financial sector to conduct internships. One goal is to continue expanding the number of cooperation agreements within this sector.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Workshop:<i> Effective Presentations<\/i><\/big><\/small><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">On 17<sup>th<\/sup> February and 17<sup>th<\/sup> March 2015, J. Gorina (Zurich Spain Human Resource Department) conducted a workshop about main skills related to speaking in public. This course was aimed at the students of the second year of the Master in Actuarial and Finance Science.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Course:<i> Insurance Leaders of the Future<\/i><\/big><\/small><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">During the second week of February 2015, Module 8 of the course entitled <i>Portfolio Management <\/i> has been taught as part of the program ILF, designed by UBriskcenter in collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.il3.ub.edu\/es\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> UB-IL3 Institute of Lifelong Learning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><small><big>Course kick-off:<i> Insurance Leaders of the Future<\/i><\/big><\/small><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Since July 2013, a Zurich senior staff team is conducting the training program <i><b> <\/b><b>Insurance Leaders of the Future<\/b><\/i>, designed by UBriskcenter members in collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.il3.ub.edu\/es\/Home.html\"> UB-IL3 Institute of Lifelong Learning<\/a>.
