Jury members were Drs. Jordi Oca\u00f1a (president), Lupe G\u00f3mez-Melis<br \/>\n(Universitata Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya) and C\u00e9cile Proust-Lima<br \/>\n(Universit\u00e9 de Bordeaux,). Dr. Piulachs is now moving forward to a<br \/>\npost-doc position at the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), he<br \/>\nwas supervised by Drs. Ramon Alemany and Montserrat Guillen.<\/p>\n<p>The thesis proposes new methods for the analysis of joint models when<br \/>\nthe longitudinal process is a count. There is an extension to deal with<br \/>\nexcess-of-zeros. The empirical analyses discusses the case of a health<br \/>\ninsurance data set Dr. Piulachs has pubished his results in several peer<br \/>\nreviewed jounals like PloSOne and SORT-Statistics and Operations<br \/>\nResearch Transactions, as well as in Kybernetes and Advances in<br \/>\nIntelligent Systems and Computing.
