Call for expressions of interest: PhD Fellowship in Economics
The University of Barcelona School of Economics invites applications for a four-year, full-time PhD Fellowship starting in March 2026 (tentative). The successful candidate will join the research project “Inequality, Structural Transformations, and Growth,” led by Dr. Xavier Raurich and Dr. Vahagn Jerbashian.
The aim of this project is to deepen our understanding of the factors driving key processes of structural transformation and economic growth that shape modern economies. More specifically, the project explores the interplay between structural transformation and demographic change, urbanization, education, and technological progress. By doing so, it aims to contribute to the field of macroeconomics, with a particular focus on economic growth and development.
The selected candidate will contribute by working on these research topics and addressing some of the project’s objectives. Strong skills in macroeconomic modeling, MATLAB, and STATA (or similar software) are required.
Remuneration: The annual gross salary ranges from approximately €17,800 in the first year to €23,800 in the fourth year, inclusive of public benefits and health insurance coverage.
