Conference with Gabriel Oddone, UB Alumnus and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay
The Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona will host, on 28 November at 11:00 a.m., the conference “América del Sur ante los desafíos económicos y geopolíticos globales”, delivered by Gabriel Oddone, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uruguay and distinguished alumnus of our Faculty. The event will take place in the Aula Magna of Building 690 and will be conducted in Spanish.
In his talk, Dr. Oddone will address the main economic and geopolitical challenges currently facing South America in a rapidly changing global context.
Gabriel Oddone holds a PhD in Economic History from the University of Barcelona and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad de la República (Uruguay). Since March 2025, he has served as Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay.
Before assuming this position, he was a partner at the consulting firm CPA Ferrere, where he led the Economic Analysis and Finance Departments. He has also worked as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, and other international organizations, contributing to projects focused on the modernization of Public Administration, the Judiciary, and Education in several Latin American countries.
Alongside his public and professional career, Dr. Oddone continues his academic work, teaching Economic Policy and Fundamentals of Economic Analysis at the Universidad de la República, and Economic History at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
