Summer School will unravel the effects of market rivalry on growth with Duke and Barcelona professors

The Summer School The Economics of Growth: Innovation, Rivalry, and Institutions will seek to unravel the effects of market rivalry and institutions on innovation and growth from July 1st-5th, 2019, in Barcelona. The 20-hour course will be taught by leading researchers in the field of Economics of Growth Pietro F. Peretto, Professor at the Department of Economics at Duke University, and Vahagn Jerbashian, Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at the University of Barcelona and researcher at the UB School of Economics.

The Summer School will allow participants to tackle real-world problems including the effects of regulations of product and intellectual property markets, firm entry, and firm governance on innovation, growth, and economic well-being. Participants will have the chance to study the foundations of modern growth theory and to acquire knowledge of a framework which is in line with theory and evidence from industrial organisation. The course also includes a workshop where advanced students will be given the opportunity to present their works and receive feedback from our professors.

Master and PhD students seeking financial aid may apply for one of the five scholarships available, which cover the tuition fee. Scholarship applicants must complete the registration before April 30th, 2019. The application deadline for the rest of participants is June 16th, 2019, or until all places are filled. Therefore we encourage interested candidates you to apply as soon as possible.
