Two UB School of Economics PhD students awarded SEBAP Mobility Grants
The UB School of Economics is pleased to announce that PhD students María Cecilia Ramírez Michelena and Mengwei Lin have been awarded mobility grants from the Barcelona Economic Society Amics del País (SEBAP).
The grant provides €4,500 to support a research stay at a leading international institution. Both awardees will visit the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
- María Cecilia Ramírez Michelena will join the Department of Social Policy and collaborate with the Women in Social and Public Policy Research Hub (WISPPRH). Her research focuses on gender inequalities in education and aims to strengthen both empirical analysis and experimental design to inform evidence-based policies, with applications to the Catalan context.
- Mengwei Lin will work under the supervision of Professor Olmo Silva (Department of Geography and Environment). His research examines how tuition fee policies affect students’ academic performance and persistence, with a focus on the trade-off between efficiency and equity in higher education.
These international research stays contribute to the global reach of UB School of Economics and support policy-relevant research with local impact in Catalonia.
