On May 22, the UB School of Sociology hosted the keynote lecture «El tiempo liminal. El crepúsculo del orden mundial neoliberal», delivered by Álvaro García Linera, who served as Vice President of Bolivia from 2006 to 2019.
The event opened with a brief introduction by David Casassas, professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Barcelona.
During his presentation, García Linera examined the structural decline of the neoliberal world order and reflected on the transitional period contemporary societies are experiencing. According to his analysis, this “liminal time” is marked by uncertainty and by the difficulty of predicting the characteristics of the new global order that is currently emerging.
The lecture brought together students, faculty members, and members of the university community interested in the major political, economic, and social challenges shaping today’s international context.
