New edition of the ‘UB’s science cafés’

By Thursday September 18th, 2025 Profesor/a de Master

On 26 September, at 18:00, will take place the first session of this year’s activity ‘Cafès científics de la UB’. This initiative, promoted by the UB’s Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I), aims to foster dialogue between university experts and society, creating a shared space for reflection on current debates.

The opening session will be held at the Altaïr Bookshop (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 616, Barcelona) under the title ‘Pantalles a l’aula: eina educativa o distracció digital?’. The discussion will focus on the pedagogical value of digital devices in schools and on the challenges of promoting effective and critical use of technology in education.

The event will feature our researcher Pedro Gallo de Puelles, and Cristina-Isabel Galván Fernández, from the Department of Theory and History of Education at the Faculty of Education. The session will be moderated by Marga Becerra, from the UCC+I.

The science café will address questions such as the role of schools in the digital training of citizens, the social, family and legislative implications of regulating the use of screens in classrooms, and the tensions between educational policy, scientific evidence and social reality.

This first meeting of the year will offer a critical and participatory dialogue on a topic that directly affects everyone: how do we educate in times of screens?

Attendance is free but limited to forty people and requires prior registration. Register here.
