On this occasion, doctoral candidate Antonio Terrón Barroso (University of Barcelona), a predoctoral FPI researcher and member of ADHUC, will present his research entitled «Soy vuestra esclava, hablad y obedeceré». Misoginia y violencia simbólica en los folletines de Robustiana Armiño para El Correo de la Moda . The thesis is directed by Elena Losada Soler (University of Barcelona) and Maria Xesús Lama López (University of Barcelona).
The dissertation analyzes gender violence as a phenomenon historically articulated through narrative resources normalized in 19th-century popular culture. Based on a study of Robustiana Armiño’s original works published in El Correo de la Moda, this research examines the symbolic and rhetorical mechanisms that contributed to legitimizing normative models of femininity and domesticity in the women’s press of the Iberian Peninsula.
