Edgar Straehle

Phd in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona

He studied Philosophy, History and Anthropology at the Universitat de Barcelona. He got a Master’s degree in “Estudios avanzados en Filosofía” (Advanced studies in Philosophy) at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and he completed his PhD on Hannah Arendt’s thought and her concept of authority at the Universitat de Barcelona. He was a visiting researcher at the Université Paris 7 – Paris Diderot, at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität of Oldenburg (Germany) and at the Freie Universität of Berlin. Currently, he is working at the Museum of History of Barcelona (MUHBA), he is researcher of the Filosofia i Gènere Seminar and he is member of the research group ADHUC-Centre de Recerca Teoria, Gènere i Sexualitat.

His research focuses on topics such as the historical reexamination of political concepts and he has worked on the thought of authors such as Hannah Arendt, Judith Butler, Claude Lefort, Linda Zerilli, Thomas Hobbes, Toni Negri and Jean-Luc Nancy. He has published several articles on different topics related to political philosophy and he recently authored the book La inquietud de la política. Claude Lefort (Gedisa, 2017).
