Matías Sirczuk

Researcher at Conicet (Argentina) and Professor of Political Theory at the University of Buenos Aires

Matías Sirczuk is a Researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (Conicet – Argentina) and Professor of Political Theory at the University of Buenos Aires. He is also a María Zambrano Postdoctoral Fellow at the Philosophy and Gender Seminar – ADHUC Research Center for Theory, Gender, Sexuality at the University of Barcelona, member of the Grup Arendtià de Pensament i Política and researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani.

He holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires, a Master in Contemporary Thought and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona. His research interests are modern and contemporary political theory, democratic theory and totalitarianism and contemporary readings of the tradition of political thought.

He has taught at the University of Buenos Aires, the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Universitat de Barcelona and has been a visiting researcher at the Université Paris VII and Fellow at the Andrew W. Mellon Dissertation Seminar in the Humanities at Cornell University. 

Co-editor of the contemporary political thought series El arte de leer (Katz-Eudeba), he has published Fundación y legitimidad en la modernidad política: Carl Schmitt, Hannah Arendt y Claude Lefort (Prometeo editorial, 2018), Hannah Arendt (co-edited with Lorena Fuster, Katz editores-Eudeba, 2017), and Gloria, Miedo y Vanidad. El rostro plural del hombre hobbesiano (in collaboration with Claudia Hilb, Prometeo editorial, 2007), as well as various articles in journals such as Arendt Studies, Les Cahiers de L’Herne, Lectora, Las torres de Lucca, Foro Interno, Res Pública, Taula, among others.
