Intensive A1 Catalan courses, January-February 2026
A1 - Basic 1
As part of the UB's Catalan language and cultural reception programme, the Language Services organizes intensive beginners' Catalan courses for students from outside Catalonia who will begin a placement or course of study at the University of Barcelona in the academic year 2025-2026. The courses have a duration of 30 hours and cost 25 euros. Successful completion can be validated for academic credits.
Registration opens on 21 November 2025 and can be carried out online via the link appearing next to each course or in person at the Language Services office.

Where are the courses taught?
All the intensive face-to-face courses are taught in Barcelona’s city centre, very close to Plaça de la Universitat:

Barcelona’s city centre – Casa Jeroni Granell30 hours Dates Times From 28 January to 6 February 2026 Mon to Fri, 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Enrolment Mon to Fri, 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. Enrolment The exam will be held on the last day of class. -
Virtual Campus20 + 10 hours Dates Video conference From 19 January to 18 February 2026 Enrolment Mon and Wed, 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. This course comprises 20 hours of teaching via video conference and 10 hours of independent learning via the Virtual Campus. The exam will be held in person on Monday 23 February 2026 in the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media.

Conditions
- We reserve the right to cancel a course if the minimum number of students is not reached (only in this case, any fees you have paid will be refunded).
- Enrolment closes once the maximum number of students has been reached.
- The enrolment fee must be paid at least one week before the beginning of the course.
- If a student cannot do the course, they should inform the Language Services by writing to sl.catala.inicial@ub.edu as soon as possible so that their place can be given to another student.
- Once your enrolment has been finalized, you may not change groups without the express authorization of the course secretary.
