Purpose of data processing

To manage the services of the Language Exchange Service and/or the CATclub, according to the activities in which you enrol.
We will also take photographs where you appear in order to publish them in the UB’s linguistic welcome, in the UB’s websites and in UB’s social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Tiktok, Twitch, Twitter).

Lawful basis

The lawful basis for processing data in order to manage the Language Exchange Service and the CATclub, is to perform a task carried out in the public interest or in exercise of official authority vested in the controller (Organic Law 6/2001, of 21 December, on Universities and the Catalan Universities Act 1/2003, of 19 February).
As for the processing in order to take and publish photographs where you appear, the lawful basis is your consent, which you may choose to revoke at any time, without retroactive effect.

Period of storage

The data necessary for the management of the services of the Language Exchange Service and the CATclub will be kept for a period of two years from the moment the student ceases to be part of it.
The photographs will be removed within a maximum period of four years from the moment they were published.

Recipients

The data recipients are the University and those responsible for processing the data, where applicable.
For the management of the Language Exchange Service, your contact details (name and surname, e-mail address, telephone number) will be given to the person who has been assigned as your language exchange partner.
The photographs taken during the activities organised within the framework of the Language Exchange Service and the CATclub will be published in the media indicated in “Purpose of data processing” section.
Your data will not be transferred to other third parties, unless under legal obligation.

Rights of the data subject

You may access your data, request the rectification of incorrect data, request erasure of your data, request data portability and request restriction of processing of your data by writing to the General Secretary’s Office at the postal address Secretaria General de la Universitat de Barcelona (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 585, 08007 Barcelona) or at the email address (secretaria.general@ub.edu). It is necessary to attach a copy of your DNI, NIE, passport or identity document.

If you feel that your rights have not been given appropriate consideration you may contact the UB’s Data Protection Officer at the postal address Travessera de les Corts, 131-159, Pavelló Rosa, 08028 Barcelona or at the email address (protecciodedades@ub.edu).

Supervisory authority

You may also lodge a complaint with the Catalan Data Protection Authority.
