Tomás Muñoz Colorado
Tomás is a first-year PhD student in the group of Dr. Carles Galdeano, co-supervised by Dr. Salomé Llabrés, where his research focuses on drug discovery targeting protein–protein interactions. His doctoral project aims to expand chemical-induced proximity pharmacology by developing and applying innovative screening strategies, molecular tools, and chemical modalities to modulate challenging biological interactions. To this end, he integrates computational and experimental approaches to identify novel binding sites, assess druggability, and characterize small molecules capable of inducing or stabilizing functionally relevant protein assemblies.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the Universidad de Navarra and completed his Master’s degree in Drug Research, Development, and Control at the Universitat de Barcelona. During his training, Tomás acquired experience in clinical and translational research, molecular biology, and biostatistics, including the development of analytical models for oncology diagnostics. He later joined Galdeano’s lab, contributing to industry-oriented drug discovery projects through the use of molecular dynamics simulations, mixed-solvent methodologies, and structural bioinformatics tools. These experiences shaped his interest in the full drug discovery pipeline, particularly at the interface between in silico methodologies and experimental validation.
