What is UBtv?
UBTV is the live and on demand video portal of the University of Barcelona. Its creation stems from the need to open this audiovisual content to all users. Within this website you can easily access the vast catalogue of the Audiovisual Service of the University of Barcelona, as well as videos shot by students and other departments. UBtv is an open window to the university community and the general public and it extends to all the thematic channels: Teaching and Research, Cultural, Institutional and Promotional. UBtv grants access to a selection of the videographic archive of the university dating back to 1987 and comprising over 2.000 productions that will be digitized and added to the video portal. The majority of the videos are in Catalan, but there are also plenty in Spanish, English and other languages, whether dubbed or with subtitles. UBtv is a proyect created and managed by the Audiovisual Service of the University of Barcelona with the support of the ICT and the Vice-rectorate for Communication and Projection.
One of the strenghts of the portal is the live broadcast of academic and cultural acts such as: graduations, endowments of Honoris Causa Doctorates, Congresses, Conferences, etc.
All videos are complemented with a carefully incorporated technical file and tags based on the UB Thesaurus database. The cataloging is revised by the The Learning and Research Resources Centre (CRAI).
