Sociologist Michael Kimmel (Stony Brook University) explores the dynamics of power between hegemonic white masculinity and ethnic masculinities. Kimmel is the author of Manhood in America (1996); Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men (2006); and Angry White Men (2014). With funding from the MacArthur Foundation, he founded the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook in 2013.
