The University of Barcelona is among the seventy-five universities in the world with the highest scientific output, according to the University Ranking by Academic Performance.
The University of Barcelona is the Catalan institution that has most researchers among the most cited in the world, according to Clarivate Analytics, an example of the quality of the scientific output developed by over 5,700 members. Professionals who are employed in the sixteen faculties, research institutes, participating institutes, research centres as well as in observatories and documentation centres.
The University of Barcelona has 297 research groups recognised by the Government of Catalonia, that include researchers of ICREA, Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva and Beatriu de Pinós. Additionally, the University has three university hospitals and thirteen associated hospitals. Thus, researchers has the support of Scientific and Technological Centers
