Internationalization: Economic, Commercial, Legal and Political Aspects

Recommended applicant profile

Students wishing to enrol must hold an official bachelor's degree or equivalent undergraduate qualification and provide evidence of comprehensive training in a discipline related to the content of the programme, especially in the areas of economics and business, law and politics. Since this is an interdisciplinary programme, graduates in other disciplines may also be accepted. A particular focus will be placed on knowledge and approaches conducive to internationalization (languages, mobility, interculturality, etc). Previous versions of this programme have proved that groups of students with from different academic and cultural backgrounds generate a much richer learning environment.

Admission requirements

In accordance with Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/29 October 2007, students must hold one of the following qualifications to access university master's degree courses:
  • An official Spanish degree.
  • A degree issued by a higher education institution within the European Higher Education Area framework that authorizes the holder to access university master's degree courses in the country of issue.
  • A qualification from outside the framework of the European Higher Education Area. In this case, the qualification should be recognized as equivalent to an official Spanish degree. If it is not recognized, the University of Barcelona shall verify that it corresponds to a level of education that is equivalent to official Spanish degrees and that it authorizes the holder to access university master's degree courses in the country of issue. Admission shall not, in any case, imply that prior qualifications have been recognized as equivalent to a Spanish master's degree and does not confer recognition for any purposes other than that of admission to the master's degree course.

Specific requirements

Applications will be accepted from any candidate in possession of the necessary qualifications to enrol in a university master's degree in Spain, according to the current regulations. The preferred degree areas for access to this master's degree are economics, business and law, hence priority is given to holders of the official bachelor's degrees in Economics, Business Administration and Management, and Law, as well as the diploma in Business Sciences. Holders of degrees in areas of the social sciences such as political science and sociology are also suited to the course content.
Given the relevance of internationalization in virtually every type of activity, bringing with it the need for interdisciplinary education to produce professionals with the skills to meet the challenges of an internationalized working environment, candidates with bachelor's degrees in other disciplines are also welcome to apply.

For all other applications, depending on the presence or absence of economic, business, legal and/or political contents in the candidate's previous training and CV, the Coordination Committee through its Admissions Committee may establish the requirement to pass the following subject, exclusively designed as bridging course for the master's degree:
- Introduction to Economics and Law (5 credits).
This course, included in the master's degree curriculum, is taught in the weeks prior to the beginning of classes for the rest of the master's subjects.

To be eligible for admission to this programme, students must hold an official undergraduate degree that grants access to master's degree study and have a competent level of Spanish and English (level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or its equivalent). Students who are not native speakers of either of these languages must be able to provide documentation accrediting their level of competence: IELTS or Cambridge (English) and DELE (Spanish).
