Objectives and competences

The well-regarded master's degree in Substance Addictions at the University of Barcelona was first taught in 1986 under the direction of professor Miquel Sánchez-Turet, professor of Biological Psychology at the UB and founder and director of the master's degree until his death in 2008. In 2001, the online mode of the course was launched. The master's degree has a wide range of lecturers from different disciplines who have extensive experience in the prevention and treatment of substance addictions and in the reinsertion of drug addicts.

Objectives

- Acquire the capacity to work on prevention and approaching drug addictions.
- Acquire in-depth and multidisciplinary training for an integral understanding of the phenomenon of drug consumption and addiction.
- To work as a specialized professional in the treatment, reinsertion and prevention of drug addictions.
- To learn the most common care models, devices and resources for intervening in drug dependences.
- To gain basic standard training, with further development of specific subjects depending on the profession and interests of each student.
