MOOC: cursos en línia oberts i massius

What are MOOCs?

MOOC is an acronym for massive open online course. MOOCs are not merely collections of online materials. They are courses that have structured content (although the structure may not be linear) and include activities for assessing knowledge acquisition.

  • Online: because all their content is available via the internet.
  • Open: because registration is the only requirement for taking them (although prior knowledge of the subject matter is recommended in some cases).
  • Massive: because there is no limit on participant numbers.

Microscopy characterization techniques

The world where we live rapidly evolves, each time faster. However, large changes are yet to come: nanoscience and nanotechnology, the world of the infinitely small, will revolutionize our current world view. Microscopy characterization techniques are the key to this new universe, which traditional visualization techniques cannot fathom. Microscopy is the door through which the nano-world becomes visible, accessible and less abstract. Science opens up a new stage where physics, chemistry, biology and engineering blur their borders to create a new global understanding encompassing everything we already know and projecting us to a future of possibilities yet to be discovered.
