27th UB Language Colloquium (CLUB 27)
Globalization, intensive use of new technologies and Internet in current society have caused, in most languages, a massive acceptance of terms from other languages, mainly from English, but others from French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. The 27th edition of CLUB is dedicated to the acquisition of loanwords in Catalan and other Romance languages. In the morning conferences, several experts will show the main mechanisms of loanword adoption in Romance languages. The afternoon roundtable, titled "Description and rules in the adoption of loanwords in Catalan", aims to reflect on the role of the academia and the adoption of loanwords into Catalan.
