The Research Institute of Applied Economics has opened the call for submissions for the IREA Award, Barcelona - Applied Economics, which is open to students submitting their doctoral theses in the field of applied economics at any university in the period 2008-2010.
The Research Institute of Applied Economics has opened the call for submissions for the IREA Award, Barcelona - Applied Economics, which is open to students submitting their doctoral theses in the field of applied economics at any university in the period 2008-2010.
The winning student receives €3,000, with the award designed to foster excellence in the work of young doctoral students and to consolidate the academic and social prestige of this level of study.
To be eligible, theses must be based on the general field of applied economics, in particular the quantitative analysis of regional and urban economic activity and the analysis of local and regional policies; government intervention in markets, especially empirical assessments of the evaluation, competitiveness and regulation of public service markets; risk analysis in finance and insurance; and the development of microeconomic and macroeconomic techniques for analysing economic activity, focusing particularly on the quantitative analysis of public policies. Submissions must be made by 30 September of this year.
