“La calidad en la Universidad en tiempos de crisis o la calidad en crisis” is the title of the lecture that the former minister of Education Ángel Gabilondo gives on Wednesday 30 January, at 3 p.m., at the Faculty of Pharmacy, within the opening of the 7th Meeting of Health Sciences Teaching Staff, which will be chaired by the rector, Dr Dídac Ramírez and takes places on 30th and 31st January and 1st February.

The Meeting of Health Sciences Teaching Staff was first organised in 2000 at the Bellvitge Health Sciences campus by a group of lecturers. It takes place twice a year at the different faculties related to health sciences education.

This year, the programme includes several round tables, lectures and other activities focused on analysing: the quality at University in times of crisis and the crisis of quality; the Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men; innovation in health sciences education (innovative actions); part-time attendance; obeying rules and teaching (the new role of the university lecturer); research-teaching integration in health sciences; the bachelorʼs degree final project; and the new reality (advanced level specific vocational training and university).

In addition, three workshops will be offered for lecturers to participate; they take place on Wednesday 30th January at 10.30 a.m. The first one, “What has the Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men attained?”, coordinated by the lecturer María Honrubia (University School of Nursing), will evaluate the implementation of the Second University of Barcelona Programme for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, especially in the field of the health sciences education (actions, difficulties, new aims, actions to improve, etc.). In the second workshop, entitled “Health sciences teaching innovation: innovative tasks”, the groups of the UB who work in teaching innovation will describe the teaching innovation actions carried out for the last years in order to develop and evaluate transversal key competences in health sciences studies and will discuss future actions. It will be headed by the lecturers Mercedes Gracenea (Faculty of Pharmacy and Institute of Education Sciences) and María Honrubia. Moreover, the hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy will host an exhibition of posters that show the most highlighted activities of the participating teaching innovation groups. The third workshop, entitled “Part-time attendance”, will be coordinated by the lecturer Joan Simon (Faculty of Pharmacy) and Mónica Arenas (CRAI Faculty of Pharmacy), aims at analysing the factors that have a direct influence on the future implementation of part-time attendance in some subjects of degrees (concept, students and lecturers profile, methodology, type of education, skills, etc.).
