UBʼEspriu Year offers a performance and goes deeply in the relation between the poetʼs work and Catalan composersʼ pieces
The Paranymph Hall of the UB hosts on Thursday, 11th April, at 7 p.m., the performance Sentit a la manera de Salvador Espriu, which binds Espriuʼs poetry with the music created by prestigious Catalan and European composers. The programme is the result of the research carried out by the Salvador Espriu Documentation and Study Centre. The aim of the event is to go deeply into the less popular relations between classical music and Espriuʼs texts. The programme includes pieces that set to music some Espriuʼs poems written by composers such as Joaquim Homs, Carles Gumí or Mercè Torrents, who will premiere her work Sardana en homenatge a Salvador Espriu. The performance, which is part of the activities organised within the Espriu Year, also links some works of the poet with classical pieces.

The performance has been designed by the performers: Maria Teresa Garrigosa (voice) and Nexus Piano Duo, composed by Mireia Fornell and Joan Miquel Hernández (four- hand piano). Francesc Garrigosa is the rhapodist. Far from being a conventional concert, the event combines poetry reading with reading accompanied by music and the performance of musical pieces. Performanceʼs common thread is the passing of time, a recurrent topic on Espriuʼs work. It includes poems from Cançons de la roda del temps, El caminant i el mur, Final del laberint and Llibre de Sinera. Some of the selected composers are Frederic Mompou, Xavier Montsalvatge and Jesús Rodríguez Picó.
