Emma Sallent, professor from the Department of Fundamental Physics of the UB, was appointed president of the Catalan Society for the History of Science and Technology (SCHCT), affiliated with the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC). Sallent succeeds Mònica Rius, professor from the Department of Semitic Languages, who was elected president of SCHCT in 2009.

Emma Sallent, professor from the Department of Fundamental Physics of the UB, was appointed president of the Catalan Society for the History of Science and Technology (SCHCT), affiliated with the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC). Sallent succeeds Mònica Rius, professor from the Department of Semitic Languages, who was elected president of SCHCT in 2009.

Emma Sallent del Colombo has centred her research activity on the history of vector calculus and mathematical physics in Italy, and on the history of science in Catalonia at the beginning of the 20th century. She is member of the editing committee of the journal Lettera Matematica Pristem. Currently, she is working on the edition of the correspondence between the mathematicians Gösta Mittag-Leffler and Vito Volterra. She also studies the relationship that the Italian doctor and naturalist Ulisse Aldrovandi held with Spain (16th century), together with José Pardo Tomás, researcher at Milà i Fontanals Institution (IMF-CSIC), within the project Cultura mèdica novohispana: circulació atlàntica, recepció i apropiacions. In addition, she coordinates the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Physics of the UB.
