La semipresencialidad como respuesta a los nuevos retos de la universidad  is the title of the first book edited by the Teaching Innovation Group in Botany Applied to Pharmaceutical Sciences (GIBAF) of UB, signed by university lecturers Joan Simon, Carles Benedí and Cèsar Blanché, of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

The book, published by the publishing house Octaedro, finishes a two-year institutional collaboration between GIBAF and the Office of the Vice-Rector for Teaching Policy of UB through a reorientation of a project REDICE. Finally, the collaboration agreement was translated into a study of blended teaching at several universities commissioned by the Office of the Vice-Rector.

The book makes a detailed review of the current situation of blended teaching at twenty universities which are part of the Vives University Network, with the eye of its greatest academic vice-rectors, and it contrast all the time its advantages and disadvantages. The publication analyses issues such as the conceptualization, quantification and contextualization of blended teaching, institutional policies and strategies on the subject, necessary resources, changes in teaching methods and how this education model affects university lecturers and students. The analysis provides useful food for thought for the progressive implementation of blended teaching, and describes the future trends that will make a profound impact on the creation of new learning environments.

For the last ten years, the group GIBAF, composed by university lecturers of Botany at the Faculty of Pharmacy, has focused its research activity on innovative learning methods, the introduction of digital teaching resources and the design of new assessment tools. In 2009, the group received the Jaume Vicens Vives Award, conferred by the Government of Catalonia, for its contribution to improving the quality of botany teaching applied to pharmaceutical sciences.
