Around 1,250 students from fifty high schools in Catalonia participated in the 3rd Contest Cristal•lització a lʼEscola (Crystallization at School), a science dissemination project centred on crystallography, addressed to upper secondary teachers and students, and organised by the University of Barcelona (UB), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).

2014, the International Year of Crystallography

On Friday 4 April, the Pati de Lletres of UBʼs Historic Building hosted the final of the contest and the award ceremony within the activities organised to celebrate the International Year of Crystallography. During the morning, participating students exhibited their crystals and presented, by means of posters, the work developed to create them. Finally, the jury announced the winner for each category: single crystal, crystal compound, best methodology and presentation, popular vote and best video.
