On Tuesday 3 June, Roca Barcelona Gallery hosts the lecture "Lʼaigua és cara?" (Is water expensive?), given by Amèlia Díaz and Cristina de Gispert, lecturers from the Department of Public Economy, Political Economy and Spanish Economy and researchers at the Water Research Institute of UB.

On their lecture, Díaz and De Gispert explain what payments are included in the water bill and underline that the water cycle generates some expenses that are not covered by users' payments.

Then, those present participate in a practical activity . Water bills from different towns will be handed to participants who will be provided with some keys to understand the structure of a bill, to differentiate between those aspects concerning the water cycle and those which are not related to it, and to distinguish payment for supply from taxes.

The activity "Lʼaigua és cara?" is part of the project La ciència de lʼaigua (The water science), of La UB Divulga, co-organised by the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) of UB and Roca. The main objective of the project is to make a transversal and multidisciplinary analysis of water by means of a series of lectures pronounced by UB experts on diverse subject areas: physical geography, ecology, microbiology, history, economics, law, chemical engineering and geochemistry.

Entrance is free but registration is required.
