The tenured-lecturer Joan Simon Pallisé, member of the Botany Section of the Department of Natural Products, Plant Biology and Edaphology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UB, has received the Jaume Vicens Vices Award 2014 for the quality of university teaching. The award, conferred by the Government of Catalonia, honours Simonʼs teaching career and his contributions to online learning resources and new assessment tools.

The tenured-lecturer Joan Simon Pallisé, member of the Botany Section of the Department of Natural Products, Plant Biology and Edaphology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UB, has received the Jaume Vicens Vices Award 2014 for the quality of university teaching. The award, conferred by the Government of Catalonia, honours Simonʼs teaching career and his contributions to online learning resources and new assessment tools.

Among other publications, Joan Simon Pallisé, coordinator of the Teaching Innovation Group in Botany Applied Pharmacy (GIBAF) of UB, is the author of the book Campusvirtual UB: un nou entorn dʼensenyament-aprenentatge, published by the Institute of Education Sciences of UB and the publishing house Octaedro within the collection Quaderns de Docència Universitària. Moreover, he wrote, together with lecturers Carles Benedí and Cèsar Blanché, from the Faculty of Pharmacy, La semipresencialidad como respuesta a los nuevos retos de la universidad, the first book edited by GIBAF.

This year, the Jaume Vicens Vives Award has been also conferred on university lecturers Elena Valderrama (UAB), Josep M. Coll (URL) and Joseph Hopkins (UOC). Collective awards have been given to the initiatives Projecte Cetrencada (UPF) and Projecte Emprendre (URV). The award ceremony takes place on 8 September during the opening of the academic year 2014-2015. The amount of money conferred to award-winners must be allocated for developing teaching innovation projects.
