The University of Barcelona and the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) have signed two collaboration agreements that promote student exchange and PhD thesis joint supervision.

Students of the doctoral programme in Business, of the Doctoral School of UB, and students of the doctoral programmes in Philosophy, specialized in Administration and Accounting, at UANL will be able to develop their PHD thesis under joint supervision. Therefore, those PhD theses that fulfil the requirements set by the agreement will be recognised by these two universities.

Furthermore, an exchange programme is set up among students of the Faculty of Public Accounting and Administration at UANL and the Faculty of Economics and Business of UB. To be exact, two UB students will be able to attend one academic year at UANL (or four UB students, if they only stay one semester). They will take subjects of the degrees in Administration and International Business. The same number of UANL students will study subjects of the degrees in Business Administration and Management and International Business at the Faculty of Economics and Business at UB. Home universities will select these students who will take an academic programme approved by both institutions at the host university.

Agreements were signed by Dr Maria Callejón, vice-rector for International Policy, and Dr Enric Canela, vice-rector for Science Policy, in the case of UB; and by Dr María Eugenia García de la Peña, director of the Faculty of Public Accounting and Administration at UANL. Then, the rector of UB, Dídac Ramírez, met the representatives of the Mexican institution. In the morning, the Mexican delegantion met the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of UB, Elisenda Paluzie.

Together with this signature, UB holds agreements with 14 Mexican universities. This academic year, 22 UB students will make a stay in Mexico and UB will host a total of 69 students.
